Today the Roanoke Times reports that Councilman David Trinkle is seeking re-election. While this is not news it does officially kick-off campaign season. I will save my commentary till all the candidates are in the field.

The Dem Primary field is still pretty muddy but the GOP field is starting to take shape and will not go through a messy primary.

Hopefully the Dems are as vulnerable as they look. Poor showing on Mason's part in the 17th plus they came into office in 06 claiming to be I's with real solutions but they've just turned out to be partisan hacks offering up business as usual. Is there a time frame for when the GOP field will announce?
