Carter Turner Endorses Ward Armstrong's Republican Challenger

Friday evening, Carter Turner sent out what can only be described as the most bizarre campaign email we've ever seen in the 8th District. Screwed up formatting, bad grammar, misspelled words, no disclaimer and uncomfortable O.J. Simpson references. Making it even stranger was the fact that 2 hours later they sent out an edited one that added the disclaimer and fixed a misspelling but left the major flaws unaddressed. There was even a randomly xenophobic "Carter Turner is one of us" line that is uniquely out of place when challenging a lifetime 8th District resident like Morgan Griffith.

Anyway, the point of the email was to attack Morgan Griffith for having the audacity to dedicate his life to the citizens of the 8th District for 15 years. No policy disputes, no major issues. The entire point was "a lot happens in 15 years so let's throw Morgan out."

My first response? Ward Armstrong isn't going to be happy. Who is Ward Armstrong? He is the Minority Leader for the Dems in the House of Delegates - the group Carter wants to join. He's been in the HOD for 17 years. If Carter thinks 15 years is too long, he must really hate Ward Armstrong and his 17 years. Good to see that he's doing something about it and supporting Ward's Republican challenger. I guess it should come as no surprise that Carter's requests for support from the Democratic Caucus have been rejected. Attacking your own leadership isn't a great way to win friends.

I said from Day 1 that Carter was a nice guy. However, he's working hard to change my opinion of him. So far his campaign has been nothing but negative personal attacks with no substance. I take solace, however, in knowing the message the voters of the 8th District are going to be sending him in November.

You want a "nice guy" to roll over and play dead like Democrats usually do against the GOP.

Nope. I want a discussion of the issues. I want Carter to offer a reason for his candidacy. I want Carter to mention a single issue besides just unemployment $ for part time workers. So far it's just been personal attack after personal attack. Guess that's the crap you get from someone that uses Mudcat as a strategist. Too bad. Carter loses by 20+ regardless but he'd be better off losing with his dignity intact.

i'm confused. where is the endorsment of Armstrong's oponent by Turner? who is his oponent? didn't see it in the article. did i miss it? i'm new at this and could just be over looking it.

sorry, but i have another question.

i looked up Morgan Griffith on the internet and it says here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_Griffith - that he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

how can Mr. Griffith be a lifelong resident of Salem if he was born in Philadelphia?

who wrote this? isn't it important to get all the facts right?

I love anonymous blog commenters and, as disingenuous as they are, I'll answer your questions.

Carter Turner is basing his entire candidacy on the fact that 15 years in the HOD is too long and change for the sake of change must occur. Unless he's being intellectually dishonest, he'll apply the same logic in support of Ed Creed's challenge to Ward Armstrong.

As for question number 2, Morgan has live here for over 50 years. I'll leave the semantics to others.

whoa. sounds like your one fo those high-priced lawyers, mr habeeb. isn't accuracy important to people like you? does your firm mind it if you don't always get everthing exactly right? that's not how i'd want to do business.

speaking of that, are you and mr griffith in business together?

and i'm not trying to be anonymous, just new at this but don't mind having my name displayed here.

Appreciate your reading our blog but obviously my time is too "high dollar" to waste justifying it to a college student. Sorry, back to bilking my clients out of millions and being as inaccurate as possible.

Habeeb Anti-Semantic, Down on College Students, Not Concerned about Truth

thanks, mr habeeb. i've really learned a lot here in a very short period of time. it is as plain as the nose on your face that you don't like semantics or college students and think they are not worthy of your time.

worse, in order to claim that mr turner had endorsed mr armstrong's oponent, you had to stretch the truth thinner than the skin on a bat's wing.

i hope the other lawyers at gentry, lock, rake and more are not like you.

that would be sad.

I am glad to see the accross the board support that Mr. Ed Creed of Claudeville, VA has for Virginia House of Delegates in the 10th District - Conservatives and Dems alike support his 2009 race. He has the support of Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli http://www.martinsvillebulletin.com/article.cfm?ID=20341 - Ed's approach to serve the people of Southside VA and work towards lower taxes and pro-job creation is exactly what we need http://www.martinsvillebulletin.com/article.cfm?ID=20404&back=archives - Finally, being a 17 year veteran, Ward Armstrong has appeared to loose touch with his consitituents - http://www.martinsvillebulletin.com/article.cfm?ID=20139&back=archives - it truly is time for a change in Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick and Carroll County in support of Ed Creed. Thanks Mr. Turner for your support.
