Wow, what a night. Just got home and I'm blown away from what I just experienced. I can't speak for the rest of America but Salem and the surrounding areas are fired up for McCain/Palin.
I got two "official" crowd totals, one from a state trooper and one from a Secret Service agent. Trooper said "definitely more than 15,000" and the Secret Service agent said 16,300 (no idea how those numbers are figured). Of course, don't be surprised to hear lower media numbers. What everyone agrees on is that, other than a Franklin Graham revival awhile back, this was the largest event in the history of Salem.
Here's the amazing thing, if you add up Obama's visit to Roanoke, Biden's visit to Danville and Biden's visit to Martinsville, you'd still have less than half the people who came out to see Sarah Palin. Anyone else thinking those polls showing a close race in SWVA might be off by just a little?

Clearly, the event was phenomenal. I thought Goodlatte, Goode, and Gilmore did well, too! The most important message to me: "Get your Republican friends out to vote." "Educate your independent friends & family." Over the last 7 days we need to hammer home all the information that is not being discussed in the media. Keep up the great work on the Blog the last 7 days!
Absolutely. It was truly a memorable and historic night for southwestern Virginia. The atmosphere last night was just electric. Just to be a part of it was amazing. John is right, we must take that excitement to those we know over the next 7 days. This is one of the most important elections that we've had in quite some time. I'm glad to be alive in these crazy times!
